My teenagers are obsessed with heading to the coffee shop and indulging in their favorite coffee drinks., but their wallets can’t always keep up with their obsession. A few of our other favorite sweet coffee drinks include this Sugar Cookie Latte and this Iced Coffee Soda.

WHAT IS A CAFE CON MIEL?

Café con miel is a Spanish phrase that translates to “coffee with honey” in English. The honey adds a natural sweetness and flavor to the coffee, making it a popular choice for those who enjoy a touch of sweetness in their coffee without using traditional sugar or sweeteners. Some variations may also include a dash of cinnamon or other spices for added flavor. Café con miel is a great way to enjoy a slightly different twist on your regular cup of coffee. You could also call it a Honey Cinnamon Latte.

CAN YOU ORDER THIS DRINK AT STARBUCKS?

While there’s not an official Café con Miel on the menu, Starbucks is all about customization. There are two ways to order:

1. You can order a regular latte or cappuccino and customize it by adding honey and cinnamon. Simply ask the barista to add honey and a sprinkle of cinnamon to your drink. You can specify the amount of honey and cinnamon to suit your taste.

2. Starbucks occasionally offers a “Honey Almondmilk Flat White” on their seasonal menu, which includes espresso, steamed almond milk, and honey syrup. While this may not include cinnamon, you can ask for a sprinkle of cinnamon powder on top if it’s available at your local Starbucks.

INGREDIENTS

Cinnamon, Coffee, Vanilla, Milk, Honey - Ingredients in a Coffee Honey Recipe

Fresh Coffee or Espresso

Don’t have an espresso machine? No problem! You can use an type of coffee you like. Make it in your drip coffee pot, your french press or use instant coffee. It’s all about personal preference!

Milk

You can use dairy milks (we prefer whole milk for this recipe) or any milk alternatives that you prefer – like almond milk, oat milk, coconut milk or soy milk.

Honey

Use whatever flavor of honey you want. We love to use local honey, but there’s no shame in grabbing a squeeze bottle off the shelf at the grocery store.

Ground Cinnamon

You can get fancy and grate your own cinnamon sticks or shake it out of the spice jar like we do.

Vanilla Extract

Some people like to use a pump of vanilla simple syrup, but we like using vanilla extract. It’s up to you and what you have in your cabinet.

See recipe card for quantities.
