Our Bathroom Stinks!

I’m finally revealing why our master bathroom has been smelling SO bad! I’ve teased you for awhile – starting with this post on Sunday.

And then I posted this picture on Facebook yesterday:

You had some great guesses – from dead animals to urine – I’m realizing it could have been much worse than it was!
But no one guessed it…
So – I’ll explain. First of all, that hole is in our master bathroom. The toilet paper holder used to be there until a little helper (most likely Miles) yanked it out of the wall.
It was already broken, and we can’t really trust our kids with toilet paper these days, so we didn’t replace it. (And we’re crazy busy trying to update the rest of our house – you know – the parts that people might actually see? So our master bathroom is about as low on the project list as it can get. )
For about a week, I’d noticed a terrible smell coming from our bathroom. I cleaned the shower, I washed the towels, I scrubbed the toilet, I cleaned the floor – but it still smelled like a bar at 3 am on a weekend.
And then I finally looked in the hole…

Miles loves trash. He has an obsession. So his job whenever I change diapers is to put them in the trash for me. He loves this! And I guess instead of taking them to the trash, he was taking them to the hole in my bathroom.
I’m not sure which is worse – diapers down the laundry chute or diapers in the hole in the wall?

  1. OMG!! This is hilarious! Not that your bathroom stinked but the fact that he was thinking in his little mind that he was doing you a favor. Kids do the darndest things…glad you found them!

  2. OMG, I am laughing so hard…..another reason to start potty training early!! 🙂 Ha!
    Love it!

  3. Oh my! That is so funny!! I love it that our little guys are such big helpers! Hope you got them all:)

  4. Hilarious! Looks like a laundry chute – maybe he thought they were getting to the dirty laundry for you!?! 🙂

  5. Oh Miles!!! I had a similar smell in our living room…. It too was a rotting diaper in our pack n play… You know, since that's the only piece of furniture in our living room! Hilarious!

  6. Thanks for making me laugh today. I don't think I would've ever guessed it was dirty diapers causing the smelly problem. At least you figured it out!

  7. I just stumbled on your site today. I too have had the toilet paper holder pulled off the wall by "not me". Thankfully there are no toddlers in diapers or this would have happened here as well.

  8. I can not believe someone elses kids besides mine pulled a move like this! Laughing with you NOT at you 🙂
    Love the blog!
