I’ve been keeping something from you.
I think I never told you because I didn’t want you to think less of my husband. But since I’ve told you pretty much everything else about him over the past seven years, I might as well share this…
My husband is a barbecue sauce snob.
I’m not proud of it.
And Lord knows I’ve tried to change him. (Oh how I’ve tried to change him.)
But there is no changing a man that is snobby about his barbecue sauce.
I first discovered this when I whipped up a batch of my mom’s homemade barbecue sauce during our early days of marriage.
He was critical.
It’s possible that I considered scheduling a doctor’s appointment for him on the spot because clearly something must be seriously wrong with a man that doesn’t love my Mama’s barbecue sauce.
Since then, there have been countless barbecue sauces that he has found unfit for his very “refined” and highly sensitive taste buds.
So when Kroger told me about Treasure EmporiYum, a carefully curated collection of delicious discoveries that are exclusive to the Kroger Family of Stores, I decided that my husband would be the perfect person to test out their Private Selection Kentucky Bourbon BBQ Sauce.
It’s made with barrel-aged Kentucky Bourbon and is small batch certified. (I have no idea what that means, but it sure sounds important!)
And I know this shouldn’t matter at all, but it also comes in a glass bottle which feels super luxurious and special (even though it’s sold at a crazy low price)!
But – seriously – get your hands on one of these bottles, and you will see why I considered buying them to give as gifts. (They look and feel that nice!)
My love for this Private Selection Kentucky Bourbon BBQ Sauce is starting to feel a little awkward, so I’m going to get straight to the recipe.
Kentucky Bourbon BBQ Sauce Portobello Rice Bowls
For a healthy, zestful twist on a classic BBQ bowl, I lathered freshly sautéed baby portobello mushrooms with the incredibly quenching Private Selection Kentucky Bourbon BBQ Sauce.
When coupled with brown rice, sliced avocado, grated cheese, and other vibrant vegetables, each mouthful is more satisfying than the last!
It’s a little embarrassing, but I whipped up a batch of these BBQ bowls for dinner last week, and I have made them two additional times since then.
They taste great for dinner.
They also taste amazing as leftovers.
And I’m just going to flat out tell you that they are even delicious straight out of the fridge.
Please tell me I’m not the only one that gets so hangry that I have to eat immediately and cannot even spare the couple of extra minutes to heat something in the microwave!
The best part?
My super BBQ sauce SNOB of a husband loves these BBQ bowls.
But more importantly, he is a huge fan of this Private Selection Kentucky Bourbon BBQ Sauce.
This would be a really awkward sponsored post if he didn’t. Amiright?
But. Seriously. I hope you can understand what a huge deal it is if my husband is willing to give his stamp of approval on this sauce.
You can find them specially marketed in select store locations.
