Ho Ho Holidays: Holiday Card Holder

A few weeks go, I shared this tutorial at Not Just a Housewife. Today, I’m sharing it with you.

Tree Branch Holiday Card Holder

Have you heard the news? Decorating with branches and twigs is the latest and greatest. Melissa Michaels at the Inspired Room wrote a fabulous post detailing why you should consider bringing the outside in this holiday season. (You can read it here.)

Here are a few of my favorite images that she included:

Using these as my inspiration, I created a tree branch holiday card holder.

Here’s What You’ll Need

Tree branches or twigs
Vase, urn or pot – something to “plant” your branches in
Rocks and stones to hold your twigs in place
Holiday cards

I grabbed a few branches from the yard and “planted” them in my glass hurricane. I tossed in some rocks and pebbles to hold them in place (purchased at Michael’s years ago.)

Then I used my clothespins to pin my holiday cards to the branches.

It makes a dramatic statement – and is a very unexpected way to display all of that holiday mail.

This would also be a great centerpiece for holiday meals – I can see pinning pictures from past holidays to the branches or having everyone write what they’re grateful for on a paper leaf and pinning the leaves to the branches for Thanksgiving.

  1. Saw your guest post today and wanted to come by and check out your blog. Love your About Me page. I had to giggle. We're in the process of looking for a minivan with baby number 3 on the way, so I can TOTALLY relate to the unshowered life of a SAHM. I look forward to poking around your blog.

  2. Great features and inspirations for the Holliday season. I love your branch, I think I can do that, such pretty cards I receive and it's a shame we can't show them off on something pretty like this!
Thanks for sharing. Happy Thanksgiving to you.

  3. Cute Idea! I was trying to figure out how we are going to display our Christmas Cards…I might have to consider this. Thanks for Sharing! Visiting from CG…
