I blinked, and all of a sudden, we’re wearing coats, the days are getting shorter – my kids are getting older.
Miles had his first day of 3-year-old preschool at St. Paul’s Nursery School. Notice his shirt? It’s the T-shirt Even Steven wore when he went to St. Paul’s Nursery School – about 28 years ago. Miles insisted on wearing it his first day.
I tried to take the traditional 1st day of school pictures, but this was what they gave me. And then I realized that I had forgotten about Simon (sorry buddy!). Maybe we’ll have better luck next year.
Alice has reached a HUGE milestone that makes me cry.
For as long as I can remember, she’s been calling her big brother “MINEEE.” And all of a sudden, she started calling him MILES. Out of the blue, without any warning – and way before I was ready – she grew up.
Miles loves being called Miles. And Alice is so proud of herself. But I’m tearing up while I’m typing this because I just can’t believe that it was over so soon. (And I know I’m totally pathetic. Just steer clear when she starts school, because I’ll be a total mess.)
Simon is 7 months old and getting bigger every day. He’s wearing 12-month-clothing. He’s sitting up, and he loves eating solids. I’ve been making my own – and I love it. (This is the web site I’ve been using for recipes – it’s so easy!)
Turns out that he has a dairy allergy – resulting in nasty exczema on his face and legs. As long as I lay off the dairy, his skin is as clear as can be. Who knew that you can order pizza without cheese?
He’s rocking back and forth on his hands and knees and scooting backwards. I’m sure he’ll be crawling within the next month, and I have no doubt that he’ll be doing his best to keep up with Miles and Alice.
And it’s just really hard to believe that by the time the pool opens again, I’ll have a 4-year-old, a 3-year-old and a 1-year-old.
How did that happen?
Miles, Alice and Simon – please slow down. Well – let me take that back. We can speed up certain moments of the day – especially when you’re tired, hungry or thirsty (or need a diaper change). But the rest of it? Let’s just slow it down!
