My 10 Favorite Posts from 2011 {and Yours}

by Anna on December 29, 2011

To wrap up 2011, I’m sharing my 10 favorite posts this year. And I’m also sharing the 10 posts that you liked the most {well, the ones that brought in the most traffic.}

My Top 10

My Mother is a Liar, Part I
Basically, my mom was a counselor and never wanted to hurt my feelings or harm my self-confidence. So rather than tell me the truth – like that I can’t sing or dance – she made up elaborate lies. And I believed her.

My Mother is a Liar, Part II
See above.

Chick on a Coke Run
This is the post that started it all. This blog was a fairly inconsistent family blog up until this post – when I decided to write what I wanted and start posting at least five days a week. It’s an old post – but it always makes me smile.

My Real Thoughts on Staying Home
Sometimes I like to read this one – just to remind myself. ;)

Sweet Simon was born in February!
How could I not include this in my top 10 posts? Sorry that it’s not #1, Simon… but don’t worry – you’re still my favorite child.

My Mom has to use the Coffee Shop Drive Thru
I’ll be honest – I almost didn’t post this one. I wasn’t sure if anyone else would find it funny – or even enjoyable. But I hear from at least one person a week that thinks it’s hysterical.

Advice to 31-year-old Alice
I still go back and read this one when I need a kick in the pants. Seriously – if my daughter was talking to herself the way I talk to myself sometimes, I’d be really upset!

My Tip for Bedroom Bliss
This makes me laugh just thinking about it. I now keep straws on my bedside table – you never know when you’re going to need one.

A Letter to Miles’s Future Wife
Should Miles ever decide to get married, his wife is going to need a few tips. I went ahead a jotted a few down for her… (and yes, Miles was only 3 years old when I wrote this…)

Maybe it was the Hair…
In looking through old pictures, I finally figured out why I didn’t have many boyfriends in high school. (Hint: It wasn’t because I was too smart.)

YOUR Top 10 {Or at least the ones that were read the most.}

Twin Sheet Curtains
This was my first tutorial, and my first attempt at linky parties. It was also my “big break” when it was featured on The Inspired Room!

Scrapbook Paper Map
This is definitely one of my favorite projects. True story: I was meeting with some women about potentially helping them with their blog, and they (of course) asked to see my blog during the meeting. My scrapbook paper map post had just gone live, and I had to sit there while they basically read about how dumb I am to think that there are 52 states. Our conversation went something like, “I don’t think that anymore. I mean – I wasn’t stupid – I just never really thought much about it…” I’m guessing that they weren’t impressed.

I have also read several nasty comments from women in a quilting chat room (of all places) discussing how me not knowing how many states there are is the problem with our society and education. {Which, oddly enough, didn’t hurt my feelings at all.}

Pottery Barn Knockoff Buckets
These continue to be one of my favorite gifts to make.

My Secret to a Long Marriage
Thank goodness you all enjoyed this. There’s just nothing better than putting my husband’s head on someone else’s body!

Kids’ Bathroom
This was such an easy project (minus scraping wallpaper off the ceiling). And it was featured on Ohdeedoh and on Quilted Northern’s facebook page.

Mod Podge Christmas Trees
I love everything that has to do with Mod Podge!

Ikea Spice Racks Into Bookshelves
I love these bookshelves. And they were so easy to make (even easier if I hadn’t painted them)! What I didn’t share is what a pain they are to hang on the wall. Even Steven wasn’t all that “even” when I asked him to hang FOUR of these.

My Favorite Thrifty Finds
My mom may be a liar, but she sure knows how to find great deals!

Scrapbook Paper Flowers
These were so much fun to make – and of course I used Mod Podge!

I’m Thankful for this Mean Comment
I still can’t believe all of the amazing comments I got on this post. You all are AMAZING!!
